About Green Building
“If you’re not building Green in 10 years, you won’t be Building”
The above statement was made at the National Association of Home Builders conference in February 2008. This bold statement indicates the shift in the market place for the demand and need to build green. Santa Barbara Builders, Inc. (SBB) is committed to setting the trend and meeting the demands of the new era of homebuilding. As Members of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and BuildGreen NM, SBB moves forward to go above and beyond entry level green to bring forth high performance, durable, and healthy homes. Why build green?
Our future depends on it. The US produces half of its Carbon dioxide emissions from buildings alone including homes. Historically over thousands of years, fluctuations in CO2 levels has been the norm, however over the last 30 years there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of CO2 produced. These levels are almost twice the amount of the highest level in those fluctuations. It makes sense to build green or not build at all.
Climate change is real and humans and housing are contributing factors. It’s important to take heed to this reality and ask that our home designs be improved to incorporate sustainable building that helps offset this problem. The homes at Vista Primavera are a part of the solution.
